After spending some time researching, we started beekeeping on 4th June 2010 with two nucleus hives. By the wet ‘swarmy’ summer of 2012 we had grown to our maximum of ten colonies. Generally we use National hives, but also have a WBC that we brought into use in 2013. We started entering honey shows in 2011 with some modest success and were lucky enough to both win BBKA Blue Ribbon Awards in the same year, which gave us entry to the 2011 National Honey Show where Robert gained first prize for his marquetry plaque of the DBKA logo, which now forms the centre of the DBKA Blackmore Trophy awarded for best entry in the Devon County Show.

About Us

We are members of Devon Beekeepers’ Association (DBKA) which is affiliated to the British Beekeepers’ Association (BBKA). We recognise that there are many beekeepers who choose not to belong to these associations and we hope that this site is welcoming to all.
